We will be a participant in this event, which is described on the conference website:

APEx (the Association of Power Exchanges) is an international body formed in the mid 1990s with member organisations being those responsible for the operation of competitive electricity markets in many parts of the world. In the time since it was formed, APEx has provided a mechanism by which Market Operators are able to share information between members (about common issues in electricity market operations).
Amongst other initiatives, APEx holds a conference annually - which provides an opportunity to meet and discuss, face-to-face. In 2008, the conference will be in Sydney.
This 2-day conference is one of those rare occasions where power exchanges from across the globe can come together and share experiences, practices and knowledge for the benefit of all.
This 2-day conference will be followed the next day with a NEMMCO Industry Conference, provided for interested market stakeholders, which we are pleased to sponsor.
HOW ARE WE PARTICIPATING?
In conjunction with our sponsorship of the NEMMCO Industry Conference (on the next day), we will also be attending the 2-day APEx Annual Conference.
WHY ARE WE PARTICIPATING?
Our company was established in 2000 to make the electricity market understandable, to a wide range of people (not just the direct wholesale market participants). We see this as the way we can assist in ensuring that the competitive market delivers the benefits promised to all of us, by enabling everyone to play their part.
Indeed, our Managing Director (Paul McArdle) spent close to a year (in 1997) working with APEx, in its early days, to assist in this information sharing.
This experience reinforced strongly that information about the market needed to be widely available - with clarity, convenience and cost effectiveness to everyone, if the market was to be truly effective.
In this way, our objectives are somewhat aligned with those of APEx.
- Since 2000, we have been helping to make Australia's National Electricity Market (NEM) understandable through software such as our popular NEM-WatchTM package.
- Since 2002, we have been providing a similar service in the electricity market of Ontario through our software, ez2viewTMOntario.
- We've recently begun to look at whether we can also provide a similar service for other electricity markets - hence our interest in attending the APEx Annual Conference.
