The Energy User's Association of Australia (EUAA)
We've been pleased to be an Affiliate Member of the EUAA for many years.
WHAT IS THE EUAA?
The Energy User's Association of Australia (EUAA) is a non-profit organisation funded by membership fees, internally generated revenue and external funds.
It is focused entirely on energy issues and was formed in 1996. A range of member services are provided - including information about energy prices, market conditions, green markets, standard electricity contract and member advisory.
The EUAA website provides a fuller descriptionWe see that the EUAA delivers substantial benefits to its members and to other energy users through the work it undertakes.
WHY ARE WE A MEMBER?
Our company was established in 2000 to make the electricity market understandable, to a wide range of people (not just the direct wholesale market participants). We've done this through a range of software products that are widely used across Australia's National Electricity Market (NEM), and elsewhere.
In particular, we are keen to ensure that energy users have access to clear, convenient and cost-effective information about the NEM, as we see that having informed and active demand side participation is a core prerequisite to having a long-term sustainable, and effective, electricity market.
As such, we've been active for many years in assisting large energy users who have the physical ability to curtail load at times of peak pricing to secure the benefits that this flexibility can provide.
Since 2000, we've been pleased to see an increased awareness, acceptance, and implementation of this approach:
1) From our early days, we had a number of energy users utilise our NEM-Watch software to provide themselves the price signals necessary to optimise their curtailability - and our NEM-Review software for historical analysis;
2) Since the first release of our deSide software in 2004, we've had a growing number of energy users utilise this tool (which we have specifically developed for energy users) to manage this opportunity.As such, we see that our objectives are closely aligned with much of the work that the EUAA undertakes on behalf of its members (some of whom are clients of ours). Hence, we're happy to provide assistance to the EUAA however we can (such as through our membership).
We also actively participate in the EUAA Annual Conference each year.
