"Cold comfort for summer power"

Duncan Hughes, journalist in The Australian Financial Review wrote this article (Cold comfort for summer power) following on from spikes (in price and demand) experienced over the winter period.
In this article, Duncan noted that prices in QLD had spiked as high as $9,000/MWh on the previous Saturday (21st July) and that a a new record for NEM-wide peak demand had been set (at above 33,000MW):
